Hello
Please can someone tell me what the best way to travel from Las Vegas to Idaho Falls is as I am planning on getting a 14 night package deal to Las Vegas then traveling to Idaho Falls.
We don%26#39;t really want to fly has anyone ever done the Greyhound bus journey or is it worth hiring a car seeing as we are not familiar with driving in the States would we be able to get there with a stopover and if so where would be a good place to stop.
Thanks in advance for any help
Las Vegas to Idaho FallsJoannes, I would hire a car (or rent one, as we say here.) The Greyhound Bus trips I%26#39;ve taken in the past have not been the most pleasant. Bus travel may have improved recently. I hope someone else can help you there.
A couple of questions:
What time of year would you be traveling?
Are you interested in National Parks and other scenic areas?
And, just for personal curiousity, why Idaho Falls?? (To visit family or friends would be my guess!)
In good weather, with minimal sightseeing, you can make the trip in 8 hours on the freeway, which is called Interstate 15. There are wonderful things to see on the way -- Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks, and the Grand Canyon (a little farther afield). And don%26#39;t miss a chance to go to Yellowstone National Park when you%26#39;re in Idaho Falls!
Cedar City is a nice overnight stop if you%26#39;re doing any sightseeing in the southern part of Utah.
Have a great trip!

Las Vegas to Idaho FallsHi Joannes27,
Yup, 8 hours on I-15 is correct for a drive in the summer from Las Vegas to Idaho Falls. To be brutally honest, it%26#39;s a boring, flat drive for most of the way (things get a little more interesting around Salt Lake City, then go back to lots of sagebrush and desert again).
There is a discount airline (Allegiant Air) that has service between L.V. and I.F. for something like $59 each way. Are you flying back out of Idaho Falls, or do you need to return to Vegas?
I%26#39;ve done the drive several times, and, unless you have a burning desire to see lots of wide open space in Utah (or you have more than 2 people in your party and you want to save money) then I%26#39;d recommend flying.
Have a great trip!
Hi,
We just drove the Las Vegas to Idaho Falls portion on Dec 31st. We were driving back home to Edmonton after a trip to Disneyland and Las Vegas.
Not too much to see as far as landscape goes, some nice views of the mountains. It did take about 9 hours drive - just keep in mind that if you go in the winter driving time is affected by the weather especially from Salt Lake City to Idaho Falls.
If you like driving for that length of time then I would recommend it.
