Visiting in Early Feb - What to Wear?

Aloha, Visiting from Hawaii in early February (BSU visit). Having not experienced sub-60 temperatures in over 25 years, not sure what type of coats are needed for myself or my teenage son. Any suggestions? Also, any feedback on Bogus Basin as an opportunity to see snow for the first time?

HI

the word is layer

the temp last night was 5.

Bogus and all of the mountains are having a good snow year in fact we have snow on the ground right now in Boise.you can see bogus from anywhere in Boise

and it is totaly covered with snow.

if you do not have winter clothing you can buy here now relatively cheap as every thing is on sale.

you will need gloves stocking cap or good hat thermal underwear. I like to layer as opposed to having one huge coat

I wear thermal then warm shirt then micro fleese then water proof wind proof thinsulate snow jacket.

Yes, layers layers! If you will be in the snow -- you will need a snow jacket, gloves, etc to keep the moisture out. I think a bunch of the outdoorsey stores are having sales, and WalMart usually has a bunch of stuff on clearance (if you%26#39;re not going to wear it much -- get it for cheap!!).

We are going to Hawaii in February! I think I%26#39;ll like the temps much better where you are!!

HNL Mom:

This year has been extremely cold...Boise it typically mild in the winter. Advise above is correct. You will need a heavy coat.

Hi

Cal this is not an extremly cold winter it is a normal winter.

I have lived in Boise for 28 yrs in the mid 80%26#39;s and again in the early 90%26#39;s it would get to -20 to -25

with much more snow.

this is a just a little below average cold and a little above average snow.

but much better than the inversion%26#39;s in past years.

i was just in boise shopping and there are many sales going on. another suggestion , is find a used clothing store, one that is of higher quality...especially, if you won%26#39;t use it again. then you could donate the clothing back to help out others!!!enjoy

Thanks for all your suggestions! I finally convinced my son he needed a warm parka, so ordered one from L.L.Bean. I%26#39;m sure we%26#39;ll be hitting the mall for other warm clothes as he plans to head to Boise State in the fall. Looking forward to visiting your fine city -- and hoping we can actually see snow falling while we%26#39;re there!
