Idaho Family vac in mid June (with dog)

We%26#39;re planning a vac to Idaho (from CA) in mid June. My family hopes to fish (for trout) and view some of the natural and historic sites.

We like to stay in small resorts with individual cabins.

We will be bringing our dog.

Any suggestions as to where to visit, good fishing, and good lodging?

Thank you!

Hi birsinl, did you have a preference for northern or southern/central Idaho?

I%26#39;m partial to the Sawtooths and the tiny town of Stanley. I would recommend the Redfish Lake Lodge but they don%26#39;t allow pets. Here%26#39;s a website for the Stanley Chamber of Commerce:

Have a great trip!

In North Idaho I would consider Priest Lake which has two smaller resorts with cabins which allow pets for additional fees. The resorts are Elkins Resort, web site: www.elkinsresort.com and Hills Resort, web site:://www.hillsresort.com Priest Lake is a very large and beautiful lake in the mountains of North Idaho, good fishing, surronded by National Forest so lots of outdoor activities. We have had lots of snow this year so higher elevations will have snow and the lake will be cold. Its located about 60 miles northeast of Spokane, Washington and Coeur d%26#39; Alene, Idaho.

Go to dannerslogcabins.com ( maybe without the s, but you can google it). They are fun, we go up there often. It is in the town of Stanley, nestled below the most beautiful view of the Sawtooth Mountains. The website shows it best, AND the wonderful Stanley bakery will be open by then. You can just walk up and have the BEST breakfast and coffees. Stanley is still a town of dirt roads,(not much there, but the old Casinos are still in the food business!) but next to the Salmon River, fishing and also river rafting. There is no better place to see in Idaho, than Stanley. Then there is REdfish lake and 2 others, easy to get to. There are hot springs also.

oh, Danners takes dogs...my friend is the caretaker, so if you like the place i will call her. enjoy

There will still be some snow in the high country still in June. Much of the Sawtooths will still be in the grip of winter, although the valley will mostly be free of snow.Have you thought about renting a U.S. Forest Service Fire Lookout ? There are a number of them in Idaho, some on the ground and some in the air, all allow pets and have spectular views. Not many places in Idaho that you can%26#39;t trout fish close by. If the Clearwater country interests you I can put you in touch with a number of rental cabins. It%26#39;s a matter of what you want to see and do.

Ain%26#39;t it the truth, I lived in Boise and used to fish in the Boise river, right next to the university!

Great suggestions above. There%26#39;s also eastern Idaho, the Henry%26#39;s Fork area, known for fly fishing and close to Yellowstone.
