My husband and I have always wanted to do an inline skating tour and it seems like this is the pkace. While I know that there are tour companies that offer tours we would rather save the money and organize it ourselves. Is this possible without a support vehicle? I had fantasies of parking the car for a few days and taking daypacks and staying in accomodations for a few nights but having never been to the area it is not clear to me if this is possible or if it is strictly day trips then back in a vehicle to overnight someplace. Any guidance on this topic would be MOST appreciated as I%26#39;m concerned I am being naive!!

Are you considering using the bike trails as your tour (i.e. Centennial Trail, Trail of the Coeur d%26#39; Alenes, Hiawatha Trail)? The Centennial Trail (paved) runs from Spokane through Post Falls and east of Coeur d%26#39; Alene, there is lodging in close proximity to the trail in Post Falls and Coeur d%26#39; Alene so its possible to skate from lodging to lodging. The Trail of the Coeur d%26#39; Alenes (paved) runs from Mullan to Plummer with limited lodging along the route, again with careful planning you could stay in lodging in Kellogg / Wallace / Harrison / Plummer along the route. The Hiawatha is a gravel trail and I would think not suitable for inline skating. The other issue would be the logistics of getting back to your vehicle is you skate one way only, very limited public transportation in this area. Most people using any of the trails tend to do day trips then back to an overnight location, there are a few organized bike tours during the summer. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of doing the Centennial Trail. Do you have any sense for what the distances would be like between lodgings? I had assumed that I would be able to cab it back to my starting point after skating for 3 or 4 days....is that possible?
General distances along Centennial Trail. Washington/Idaho state line to downtown Post Falls - 5 miles, downtown Post Falls to downtown Coeur d%26#39; Alene -10 miles, downtown Coeur d%26#39; Alene to Higgins Point on Lake Coeur d%26#39; Alene (end of Centennial Trail) - 8 miles. Here is the local website covering the Idaho portion of the Centennial Trail : www.northidahocentennialtrail.org Motels/Hotels exist both in Post Falls and Coeur d%26#39; Alene that would be close to the trail. There are local cab companies that could provide service.
