Hey Beantown1,

We lived in Boston in the early 90%26#39;s - haven%26#39;t been back for awhile. You%26#39;ve made an excellent choice to visit Sun Valley for skiing. I can help you with a few of your questions, but you%26#39;ll probably want more local advice for the rest.

You will definitely find the trails steeper out here than you would, say, at Stowe, VT.

Our favorite casual place (and I mean waaaaay casual) is the Wicked Spud (305 N. Main, Hailey, 208-788-0009). Cheap burgers, cheap beer, pool tables, usually a band on Friday and Saturday nights.

Yes, you will want a car. Depending on where you stay (in Hailey? Ketchum? at the Lodge?) it%26#39;s a ways to/from the ski resort into town.

Don%26#39;t know about ski rentals or private chefs.

Have a great trip!

OK,

here you go :

Top 3 places to eat

Fine Dining 1 Chandlers

2 Christiania

3 Lodge Dining Room

Casual 1 Pioneer Saloon

2 Ricos

3 Sawtooth Club Bar area ( the dining upstairs is outstanding too.)

Snoo Cat Trips are out of Soldier Mountain Resort near Fairfield, Idaho : 1 hr drive away www.soldiermountain.com its very good! your weather timing is key...

Top Performance Ski Rentals : not really in any order

1 Formula Sports

2 Ski Tech

3 Paul Kennys ; Ask for Baird, tell em Kendall sent ya.

Private Chef,

call Cristinas Catering

Steep Trails : Inhibition is the steepest inbounds, its in the Cold Springs area. Also check out International, and Lower Christmas Bowl.

A car is a must have, there is free bus service but you%26#39;ll need the car to get to and from your restuarants, its much easier than dealing with the bus stops at night as it is usually very cold at night. Although many people do without cars, the buses run until 10pm.

The bulk of the ';Locals'; have moved out of Ketchum and now live 11 miles south in the town of Hailey(by the way NEVER speed in Hailey or Bellvue, even 1 mph over!) The afoementioned Spuds bar is in Hailey, there is a better bar in Ketchum : Grumpys. They have a flying monkey from the Wizard of Oz, a real one from the movie.

This is a classic place, get a schooner of your favourite and have a ';fowl burger';, ask for Pete, the owner, tell em Kendall sent ya.

ha , wouldn%26#39; eat at any of those resturants, esp chandlers!!!

What about east ave bistro, felix, and ketchum grill. boy, do we have different tastes.

and if you want a private chef, christina doesn%26#39;t do it herself and i work for her!!!
