When an Idaho forest fire reaches the national news it is cause for concern. How bad are things there, and are you safe? Know that I am thinking of you and hoping the fires are soon controlled. - Peggy
Charley 48 - How bad is the fire?
we are evacuated, as the fire came very close to our house. peter wass gone and i couldn%26#39;t think of what was dear to me. i picked gladiolas and cherry tomatoes and took the bikes!!! look it up on blainecounty.org...1600 fire fighters and 40,000 acres...it is not good. the people in warm springs have been out for 2 weeks and no time yet as when they will get back in.

Charley 48 - How bad is the fire?
Charley48: My prayers are with you and the firefighters. Being from Twin Falls myself, the Sawtooth Mountains and Wood River areas are near and dear to my heart. Please take care. -Cathy
I saw this post by accident and I too hope that the situation will soon become under control,
I´m concerned about those natural desasters as fire (Idaho, Greece) or flash fllood (Ohio) and I hope that all people concerned will get as much help as they need.

thanks, to all of you. this is so weird and out of our control. today, opposite our house, the bombers and helicopters are at full force. Then , i am having my hair done, and everyone in the salon is running to the window near me...the ski mountain is on fire...this was omminous. They cut our cell phone service (the radio asked us not to use them , for the firefighters need the service) THEN, they shut down our service (SCAREY). The winds are quiet and they are still on point. We still have National Guards at all the entrances to town (Busy retired you will know the area) and NOW they have evacuated 1400 houses in Warm Springs (our area was 1000 homes). Only one way in and one way out...so they have to secure. One of my great friends, who lives in the most IDEALIC place , by the river, hasn%26#39;%26#39;t been to her house in 2 weeks, and still has a week or so to go...we don%26#39;t live in a iife like that here. We live in a LA LA land and this is a reality check...toos bad we have to now see this... and still hard to say...enjoy
ps. thanks for all the support, if youwant to see what is going on here,go to blainecounty.org
amd sunvalleyonline.com for all the pictures.
utube also has info..this is the us top priority...
Charley 48,
We%26#39;re still looking forward to our visit in September, but are really feeling for all of you there. Are things improving for you now that the fire is mostly contained? I keep checking blainecounty.org. Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to you and all those affected by the Castle Rock fire. Hope you can get back to your home soon. Thanks for all your help and hoping that help has been returned to you there in kind in your time of need.
Thanks for all the support from everyone. Yes, it is 100% contained, but JEanne the IcP captain told us , that a pocket of fire can live under all our snow and reappear in the spring!!! My friends, on the Board RAnch, out in Warm Springs, are now back in their houses. The rubbish people have set up dumpsters for them to put their refrig contents. They had to turn off the power, and the city does%26#39;t want them to dispose of the rubbish themselves, because of the bear action. I think that they said that their were 5 bears in the firefighters camp and my friend had one break into the house next door. (the friend had that happen to her and the bear ate all over her house!!!messy), so now, animals are really displaced.
We have had rains for the last few days, so i don%26#39;t see any ';plumes'; any more, but now the mud is running down the hills.
I saw a fire fighter in the PO and bowed to him. Everyone did. We are fortunate to have had such a wonderful crew and he said that he had never seen a town get together like ours. They truely saved us. the whole place could have gone up and we have the crews to thank. The town has ';thank you firefighter'; signs on cars, and draped up and down the valley. It was truely an amazing event, one that i never want to go through again.
Come to the valley, spend money...the poor town had no business over Labor Day, they called off all the parades ect..We thrive on the tourist business and this was the last ';hurrah';. The attitude of the town is one of happiness and gratatude.
You will have a wonderful time and can%26#39;t wait to hear about the trip.
Thanks all for your caring.
Carla
