Drive in January from Spokane Airport to Schweitzer

I%26#39;m not sure whether to rent a car or take a shuttle from the Spokane airport to a condo we rented on Schweitzer.

What are the roads generally like in early January? How long should I allow for this drive? Can anybody recommend a good shuttle company?

Many Thanks!!

Drive in January from Spokane Airport to Schweitzer

I would rent a car which would give you much more flexibility at Schweitzer and Sandpoint. Schweitzer is located above and out of Sandpoint so to enjoy Sandpoint you will need local transportation. Generally in January roads will be plowed and chemically treated, major highways (Interstate 90 and US95) are usually bare pavement unless there has been a recent snow storm. I would allow two hours for the drive from the Spokane Airport to Sandpoint, you can encounter some slower traffic through Spokane and as you take US95 out of Coeur d%26#39; Alene. Living here I haven%26#39;t had the need for an airport shuttle so can%26#39;t help on a recommendation.

The road is flat and well tended generally. If you live in Ashland and drive in the snow there you will have no problem.

Thanks. I%26#39;ve made a car reservation. Sounds like it should be OK. I do drive from Ashland (2100%26#39;) to Mount Ashland (5400%26#39;) in my Subaru Forester and haven%26#39;t needed chains yet. But then, that%26#39;s part of owning a Subaru.
