I am thinking of staying there for a few days in August. Any thoughts?

Motel 6 Coeur d'Alene
Hi Terry,
I%26#39;ve never heard any complaints -- especially considering the price, which is very affordable. You%26#39;re not in the downtown area, but are within a few miles (wouldn%26#39;t want to walk it -- too far). The location is on a very busy street with lots of stores and fast food restaurants nearby, but if you%26#39;ll have a car with you it%26#39;s just a 5 minute drive to the resort and downtown area.
For the money I think it%26#39;s a fine choice -- it advertises it%26#39;s rate at about half what the others do.
Have fun in Coeur d%26#39;Alene.
Motel 6 Coeur d'Alene
Have car will travel. It%26#39;s less to stay at the Motel 6 then it is at the KOA for a cabin with no bathroom.
And how%26#39;s the Wild Waters park? Sure is expensive. Any way to get discount tickets to Wild Waters and/or Silverwood?
Thanks for your help KirkandMimi!
Terry
Oddly enough I actually stayed there once several years ago. I don%26#39;t remember much about it, which must mean it was at least decent considering the price.
Discounted Silverwood tickets used to be available via Costco, you may want to check with your local Costco or there is a Costco located very close to the Motel 6 here in Coeur d%26#39; Alene, also ask at the motel sometimes Silverwood runs promotions with a variety of merchants.
Just stayed there, no problems at all. Found Butte facility better, but...
In general Coeur d%26#39;Alene is a very clean and safe place, so you really can%26#39;t go wrong, whatever hotel you pick.
Just down the street from the Motel 6 is a restaurant called Tomato Street. Tomato Street on Appleway has great Italian food and pasta, their smashed sandwiches are delicious and the atmosphere is really fantastic. This is probably my favorite local restaurant (they have a location in Spokane too) Good wine list and big portion sizes.
Some of the hotels offer discount silverwood tickets, but otherwise you can get them at Costco. No matter what it is going to be expensive. sorry.
While you%26#39;re here make sure you take a walk around the Fort Sherman park by the beach and the floating boardwalk at the CDA resort.
Also be sure to hike the nature trail around Tubbs Hill (right by the resort and the boardwalk). It takes about an hour (two at the very most) to walk around. Very pretty, the best views of the lake, lots of little secluded beaches for swimming or a picnic. You%26#39;ll probably see lots of locals jumping off the cliffs and rocks into the water.
For fantastic desserts go to the Dockside restaurant in the CDA Resort...their ';Gooey'; sundaes are the best (the sundaes are about $8 each, but big enough to feed 2 or 3 people, you can get a smaller ';personal sized'; sundae too, but that is not as fun) The food at Dockside is good too, but we usually just go for dessert (then take a walk around the boardwalk)
If you really want to get away from town and experience nature, I would recommend that you do the Route of the Hiawatha. It was a railway that has been converted to a bike path. It is a 15-mile gradual downhill trail that winds through the mountains – you%26#39;ll go through 10 tunnels and over 7 high trestle bridges (when you get to the bottom you take a bus back up to the top). It has got spectacular views and makes for a great family-friendly adventure. You can rent bikes and headlamps - you%26#39;ll need lights for the very long and very dark Taft tunnel - at the nearby Lookout Ski Resort.
