Selkirk Lodge very uncomfortable

I just stayed at Selkirk Lodge for two nights. Our family of 5 was very uncomfortable. Check in was stressful and we felt very unwelcome. At $259 per night (holiday rate), I was extremely displeased.

You dont%26#39; get a kitchenette, you get a microwave, sink and mini fridge. The hotel (feels like a motel) provides you with tiny plates and miniture bowls so that feeding your kids cereal is nearly impossible.

Everything we encountered with the hotel and resort, the staff acted like it was the first time they ever did any of it. Buying tickets wtih the 15% discount was difficult. Using the ski lockers was a joke. They had you a huge lock and key for each set of skis or boards. For us that meant 7 sets of keys and locks to manage. Like everyone else we put our gear in our room.

The snow was great at Schweitzer. I will never go to this hotel (motel) again. A complete rip off and disappointment

The pool was nice and warm, the hot tubs were hot but not clean.

Oh Dear!

I was planning on stopping in Sandpoint en route to Glacier. But No one has recommended accomodations that are clean and reasonably priced. Further, the views about the locals tend to be negative.

Does anyone have a place to recommend or a kind word?

Thanks

HI

I have a kind word

I live in Boise 350 miles south but I love going to North Idaho

the post above was 1and 1/2 yrs ago and during winter and ski season who knows why the poster was so stressful could have been a long drive from seattle with 3 kids in the car LOL

Idaho is friendly could be the negative post are from people in big citys who are used to snapping their fingers had haveing people jump'; We don%26#39;t do that'; from my experience everyone is treated with respect but if you come with a chip on your shoulder it doesn%26#39;t get you very far.,

so I wouldn%26#39;t worry come with a big smile and enjoy Idaho.

Sawadeeka,

You%26#39;re right! A smile and kindness go far. But I was looking at all the hotel reviews for Sandpoint. Positive lodging reviews are few.

I remember how stressful it can be to travel with children - 25 years later. Ski holidays, with all the equipment, is particularly hard. Now when I travel with either one of my middle aged children, the roles are reversed. They take over the planning and see to the details. What a delight!
