Table Mountain Hike

My family is going to be in Yellowstone/GTNP/Jackson in late July. We%26#39;d like to include some time hiking in beautiful Idaho as we%26#39;ve never been there. Has anyone hiked Table Mountain from the near Driggs, Idaho trailhead? I%26#39;m wondering how tricky the ';talus slope scramble'; is and if it%26#39;s doable with a 9 year old. (He%26#39;s a hardy hiker and has completed an 11 mile, 4000+ft elevation gain hike when he was 8. I%26#39;m just not sure about that last bit of the hike.) Also, is it truly an approixmately 30 minute drive from Jackson to the Table Mountain Trailhead?

Thanks in advance.

I forgot to specify that this will be a day hike.

Guess there aren%26#39;t a lot of hikers on the Idaho forum... sorry about that. Anyhow, the road from Jackson to the Table Mountain trailhead isn%26#39;t exactly a straight shot, and it is mountainous in parts. The drive from Jackson to the trailhead will be a little over an hour.

i am totally a hiker, but in a different area. never heard of tablerock...enjoy

We%26#39;ve done Table Rock several times, and it%26#39;s easily doable for a sturdy 9-year-old. Our girls did it when they were younger than that (though, if memory serves, I did have to carry our [then] 5-year-old part way back down on my shoulders).

It%26#39;s a beautiful hike with some fun streams to cross. You%26#39;ll have a great time.
