My husband and I are going to be visiting family in the Boise area around Thanksgiving. We are interested in doing some sight seeing and get out and about the town. We are not ';outdoorsy'; types, instead preferring historic sights, museums, etc. We also enjoy funky restaurants, live music venues, cultural festivals....opportunities to mingle with a fun, interesting crowd. Suggestions for things to do that we might enjoy are appreciated! Thanks!
Things to do in BoiseYour age and musical interets are? Boise has quite a lively club scene.
Things to do in BoiseBy the way, Billy Joel will be there on Nov. 26. You can probably still get tickets at idahotickets.com.
We are in our early 30%26#39;s. We generally stick to all types of rock music, but are willing to step out of the box for a really interesting experience--as long as it doesn%26#39;t involve hip-hop :)
james taylor is going to be at the idaho center on oct 30, who does%26#39;t love james taylor??? enjoy
Check out bigeasyconcerts.com for a list of what%26#39;s happening at the local concert/nightclub. The local newspaper, idahostatesman.com has a thorough entertainment section on its website. It%26#39;s a bit hard to find in all the clutter on their site but, should tell you about everything that is happening. Even better is the alternative newspaper, boiseweekly.com. Very well organized and easy to use. These three sources should be all you need to check out the Boise scene. Enjoy!
The Old Idaho Penitentiary is a fun historic site you can tour on your own. Boise Art Museum is cool, too.
Downtown Boise is chock-full of great restaurants, clubs, and shops. Check the listings in the Idaho Statesman and Boise Weekly for live music. I really like Pengilly%26#39;s, an old-school bar with live music on Main Street that%26#39;s popular with folks in their 30s through 50s.
The downtown Christmas tree lighting will happen the Thanksgiving after Christmas. In conjunction with that, there%26#39;s an ';Empty Bowls'; fundraiser: For $10, you can choose a handmade bowl and get it filled with soup, and the money goes to the local food bank.
Just walk around downtown. You will have fun and be surprised at what a hip little city Boise is.
I recommend the view from Table Rock. You can hike there from the Old State Penitentiary, or you can drive to the top. The hike is about 1陆 miles each way with a 900 ft elevation gain.
To drive to the top you would take Reserve Street to Shaw Mountain Rd to Table Rock Rd.
