training in Boise

Hi all - I%26#39;m going to be in Boise for a week coming up for a work training. We are staying at the Harrison (?) Plaza Suites. We will be on our own in the evenings and I%26#39;m wondering, are there some decent eating and shopping places near there? I want to try to get to a Harley Davidson store too, is there one within walking distance? I tried mapquesting and it looks like it%26#39;s not that far but it also looked like you have to go down a busy highway to get to it. Most importantly - where to get all my souvenirs LOL! This will be my first trip to Idaho and I%26#39;m really looking forward to it! I appreciate your help :-)

Hi

If you are into Harley-Davidson you have to go see the new store,

It is awesome worth the drive. not your typical store

don%26#39;t know where Harrison Plaza suites are at do you have an address.

unless you are staying downtown nothing is within walking distance

Boise has had tremendous growth it is really spread out. you will be amazzed how urban and upscale it has become.

there are many great restuarant/s and lots of shopping depends what you are looking for.

there is a Cabella%26#39;s here if you are into hunting.

large shopping mall.

It is on South Cole Road - I found some information on the location:

Conveniently located 4 miles northwest of the Boise Airport.

4 miles to downtown Boise and the Boise Centre on the Grove Convention Center.

3 blocks south of the Boise Towne Square Mall.

6 blocks north of the Spectrum Entertainment Center.

About HD, I have to pick up shirts for my husband and son - they are the bikers in the family and I want to surprise them with something. I think I can get a shuttle if it%26#39;s under five miles. I may just have to rent a cab and go exploring!

Funny thing... Harrison Plaza Suites are a good location, for being away from the freeway and ';close'; to a lot of things, but the only things really within walking distance are a ';district'; of car dealers, a stadium church of sorts, and the Subway/Chevron at the corner of Cole and Franklin. I didn%26#39;t get a look at the rooms when I toured Harrison Plaza once, but it has a decent atrium, pool, related amenities.

If you%26#39;re into seafood, if you work your way past the mall (left off Cole to Franklin, right on Milwaukee), on the left side, hidden in a strip mall behind a Carl%26#39;s Jr., there%26#39;s a good place called Fresh Off The Hook. Other than that, when dinner beckons, I%26#39;d suggest heading downtown. Several other threads have good suggestions there.

HI

if you can%26#39;t make it to the HD store in Meridian they have a clothing only store in the BoDo area downtown. to buy all of your HD clothes

your hotel is about a 10 or 15 min walk to the biggest shopping mall in Boise most of the resturants will be chain type. but there is a new Chesscake Factory at the mall.

You will definitely want to plan to either take a cab or shuttle to explore. The HD store is off of Overland, in the new Theater Complex.

The best exploring should be done in downtown Boise. There are plenty of fantastic restaurants there to choose from.

You can walk the greenbelt during the day, stop by and visit the Anne Frank Memorial site, right along the River near 9th Street. The Boise Art Museum, the Boise tour Train and the Rose Garden are close to the Memorial as well (East of Capitol Street). From the Memorial, you can head up 8th street (North) to the BoDo area where you%26#39;ll find a Theater, Comedy Club, Bars, Restaurant, Shops and music venue. Head across Front Street into the Boise Centre on the Grove. There is a great fountain there and a delicious Bistro called the ';Brick Oven Beanery'; - this area is also where you can catch a professional Hockey game. Head towards Main Street and you%26#39;ll find most of the nightlife area if you take a right on Main (towards 6th). You%26#39;ll find some great Lounges if you keep heading down 8th Street though (North) like the Red Feather Lounge and the Grape Escape. Stop in at Moon%26#39;s Kitchen on Idaho and Bannock for a famous Milkshake too.

Enjoy your stay in Boise! You%26#39;ll love it here!

I didn%26#39;t get a chance to thank you for all your help. We are back now and we really enjoyed it there - we did go to a few of the places mentioned above, made it to the Harley store. I was disappointed that we were leaving the day the Street Fair started because I thought that sounded like fun!
