Hi,
We are planning to travel from Boise to Glacier roughly via Stanley, Salmon, Lolo, Kamiah, Coeur D%26#39;Alene.
Could anyone suggest some reasonably high-end lodging? We like the outdoors, good views, traditional but good accommodation, cabins, peaceful settings, wildlife. We just want to see and experience the best of Idaho.
Thanks
David

Not sure of your route based on the towns you mentioned. Normally you would go north from Salmon, Idaho to Missoula, Montana and continue north to Glacier. The Kamiah and Coeur d%26#39; Alene areas are a little off the most direct route. If you are interested in a mountain/river lodging off the direct route you may want to consider the River Dance Lodge (www.riverdancelodge.com) near Syringa, Idaho (not far from Kamiah) on US Highway 12 which connects Missoula, Montana and Lewiston, Idaho. Its operated by ROW Adventures which is a major river rafting operator here in the Northwest. The Coeur d%26#39; Alene area is not one of the quietest areas in the summer but another area you may want to consider if you have time is the Priest Lake area about 60 miles north of Coeur d%26#39; Alene. Several lodge/cabin resorts on the lake offering great summer mountain scenery.
Lodging pleaHmmmn, a bit of a zig zag route. For the Stanley area, you might check out Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch for high end all-inclusive accommodations in a quiet but glorious setting. I%26#39;m actually planning another trip from Boise to Glacier, Yellowstone and the Tetons next summer with 3 days at River Dance Lodge, one in Bigfork, Montana at Mountain Lake Lodge, and two at Many Glacier Lodge in Glacier National Park; then south to Yellowstone, Tetons and return to Boise. If you have a late flight into Boise or an early flight out of Boise, you might check out Cambria Suites at the airport. Have a wonderful time in my home state of Idaho!
i ditto the suggestion for the Idaho Rocky Mt. Ranch, but just checked their prices...$400 a night. In the Stanley area, Try the MEadow Creek Spa. You get a treatment in the price, and a glass of wine at the most beautiful spot in the world, just below the Sawtooth Mountains. Just out of Salmon is a wonderful B and B. 100 Acre woods. The owners are chefs, serve dinner, and have a wonderful pond for you to use their paddle boats. We always have a romantic time up there...enjoy
Thanks all, they sound good suggestions. We are looking at a zig zag route because we are interested in Lewis and Clark sites, such as around Lolo and Kamiah, and we also want to see Glacier as well as archetypal Idaho, but the planning is very much a work in progress!
Any more ideas would be very welcome!
David
