Route & advice from Spokane to Kellogg.

I am driving from Spokane Airport to Kellogg. I would like to visit Cour D%26#39;Laine, %26amp; Wallace and possibly across the border into Montana. I would appreciate some advice on the best route and what to see and do there. I will be in Idaho from June 13-16.

Route %26amp; advice from Spokane to Kellogg.

Hi,

Easy drive from the Airport -- probably about an hour and 15 minutes or so to Kellogg depending on how you drive.

From the airport you%26#39;ll get on Hwy 2 towards Spokane and then you%26#39;ll end up on Hwy 90 (going East towards Spokane) which goes all the way to Montana.

It%26#39;ll take you about 25 minutes to pass through Spokane and the Spokane Valley and then you%26#39;ll be at the Idaho border. Just stay on that Hwy 90 and you%26#39;ll pass through Post Falls and then the next city is Coeur d%26#39;Alene (total driving time from the airport so far is about 40 minutes or so). If you want to get off and check out Coeur d%26#39;Alene, you might want to get off on Exit 11 and turn right. Stay on that street and you%26#39;ll be in the downtown area in about 5 minutes. You can check out the resort, the beach, the little downtown area and of course the gorgeous lake. Get back on Hwy 90 East(you can just keep going straight on that main street, Sherman Ave.) and you%26#39;ll be in the Silver Valley (Wallace and Kellogg) in about 30-40 minutes. You%26#39;ll past the old Cataldo Mission on the way which is a nice stop and if you want to stop in Kellogg, they have the world%26#39;s longest single span gondola trip up Silver Mountain. The rest of Kellogg is cute, but you might want to travel on to Wallace, have lunch at the 1313 club and just wander around. The city is architecturally very interesting and is registered as a ';historic'; city. If you want, you can take an underground mine tour or visit the Bordello Museum. From the Silver Valley, just get back on Hwy 90 and you%26#39;ll be in Montana in no time (30 or so minutes I believe).

You%26#39;ll definitely find the most things to do in the Coeur d%26#39;Alene area, so if you plan on spending a whole day on your trip, you%26#39;d be best to spend it in Coeur d%26#39;Alene.

I%26#39;m sure someone will add to these suggestions.

That last post pretty much sums it up. I agree with everything he/she suggested. Sandpoint (45 miles north of Coeur d%26#39;Alene and completely out of your way, though I drove out of my way four years ago and now live here) is a gorgeous stop and worth the drive, though it doesn%26#39;t have the volume of businesses that CDA has if you%26#39;re looking for that. Regardless, return to Idaho for more than three days next time! It%26#39;s pretty country!
