We are travelingfrom Spokane to Lewiston in a couple of week. We will have our 2 kids with us (3 %26amp; 6) and are looking for fun activities or places to visit that are outdoorsy and/or educational.

We would also like to savce some money and stay in cabins if possible. Please pass along good and bad advise- all is helpful!

Thanks so much-

Spokane to Lewiston is about a 2.5 hour drive. You have two routes you can take, US195 via Washington, or I90%26amp;US95 via Idaho. US195 is through the Palouse (rolling hills with wheat farms), A neat state park is Steptoe State Park near Steptoe Washington on US195. Steptoe Butte is a small mountain above the terrain of the Palouse giving great views, you drive to the top. On US95 in Idaho its a quick drive over to Heyburn State Park which offers lake access, hiking trails, campgounds and cabins. Web site is …idaho.gov/parks/heyburn.aspx

Heyburn is about 45 minutes south of Coeur d%26#39; Alene and about 2 hours north of Lewiston. There are lots of outdoor things to do in Lewiston, but a unique trip would be a day trip up to Hells Canyon by jet boat. Beamers is one of the main operators, web site: www.hellscanyontours.com . Also a trip up to Spalding, Idaho just east of Lewiston to visit the Nez Perce National Historic Park Visitor%26#39;s center is worth while.
