Elkins Resort, Priest Lake, Idaho

I am considering renting a cabin at the Elkins Resort at Priest Lake, Idaho. Their website looks great, but I can%26#39;t find any reviews of the place here on Trip Advisor, and it is not listed in my AAA book, which makes me a bit apprehensive in making a reservation.

Honestly, would this place be a good choice? The website photos depict cabins that are very clean, modern, and comfortable inside. I just want to make sure that it is, in fact, these things. How would you rate it?

Thank you.

I live about an hour from this resort and have driven up to it, but have never been inside. It is considered a great ';rustic'; cabin experience. It is out in the middle of nowhere, but has a restaurant with a great reputation. I would say it is a place if you want to get away from it all in the woods. It is not luxurious by any stretch of the imagination. Like, for example, the Rainbow Ranch in Montana. When I had looked into it once for relatives, I thought it was very high priced for a woodsy cabin. My neighbors did stay there and enjoyed it, not mentioning any complaints. It is a very undeveloped area if that is what you are looking for. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your response.

I do not mind if a place is out of the way in the woods. Getting away from it would be great.

But what is your definition of ';rustic';?

To me, ';rustic'; means a bit old, run down, extremely simple, and not always the cleanest. Are you calling it ';rustic'; for this reason? Or only because it%26#39;s far from civilization?

Thank you!!!

I have not heard anything about it not being clean, or that is run down. I am saying rustic in that it is not modern. For the price range that they are in, I would expect things like granite countertops, nicer furniture, upscale hotel quality linens etc. Here, you are paying to be in the woods by the lake in a remote area. You go there for those things, not the room. Maybe the cost isn%26#39;t so bad these days... I had checked a number of years back for christmas and was surprised to say the least! You have to realize that locals consider it overpriced because we do not want to pay so much to go stay in the woods. We all live in the woods! So, for us to pay top dollar for a room, we want something we don%26#39;t have, like a posh room in Seattle. If you live in a city and want the north idaho experience, this may be perfect.

We own a condo on Priest Lake and spend a lot of time there year round. It is a beautiful place, good paved roads to most areas around the lake but a Long drive from any major city with an airport. If you don%26#39;t snowmobile I would not suggest you visit in the winter. It is a great place to visit in the summer, July-September. Elkin%26#39;s resort is as the previous poster discribed, rustic, like a hunting lodge, in a beautiful lake setting. You might also want to check into Hill%26#39;s Resort on Priest Lake, a little nicer than Elkin%26#39;s IMO, but still kinda ';rustic';. And if you do visit in the summer, try to bring or rent a boat!

I would rate it 4 stars. Great restruant %26amp; large bar overlooking my favorite lake :-). Rooms %26amp; hotel are rustic but with class. We love the place!! We snowmobile alot %26amp; stay there alot!! You wont regret it!!!
