How is the fly fishing in mid June around the Sun Valley area? What are the best lakes, streams? What do you catch?
Fly Fishing
I%26#39;ve always heard from my fishing friends in Idaho that Silver Creek is the place to go. I don%26#39;t fish myself, but if you search the internet on ';Silver Creek,'; you%26#39;ll get a lot of information about the fly fishing around Sun Valley.
Fly Fishing
The fly fishing in Sun Valley is terrific - as are the hiking, biking, paragliding, etc. etc. The main river in Blaine County is the Big Wood, and in mid-June, the Green Drakes should be hatching. That%26#39;s my favorite fly, because I can see it! Also, it%26#39;s early in the season, so the fish are more willing. The most famous stream in the area is Silver Creek, a spring creek preserved by the Nature Conservancy and open to the public. Not to be missed. Lots of smaller streams are good for brook trout, and the Big Lost is a good river within reach if you stay in Ketchum. Also - don%26#39;t miss visiting the Sawtooth National Recreation area.
