Special Events/Festivals in May

Hello Boise!

My husband and I are going to be first timers to Boise 5/5 - 5/8 and I am wondering if there will be any special events or festivals going on that weekend? Still trying to decide on a hotel. Is it easy enough to get around town without renting a car or we need to rent a car to do some day trips outside of the city?

Thanks so much for any advise!

Jean

Special Events/Festivals in May

hi nmcruzzinl,

we love to go to boise and a car would be a plus. we always use priceline, go for the 2 1/2 * hotel, and bid $45, the only hotel that is a 2 1/2 * on priceline is the Marriott Springhill Suites...we always stay there, the breakfast is huge and filled with fruit, yogurts, and even eggs.

igougo.com and helloboise.com are good websites. there is alot to do in boise, fun city. the downtown is being renewed and lively. we love the red feather for dinner. being a chef, i am hard to please. also, their sister resturant, mai thai, was good last week.

don%26#39;t miss the boise coop on 8th and fort street. easy to find. a huge health food, deli store. that is where we eat lunch, the only place we eat lunch, and get salads and things for the ride to our home, 2 1/2 hr away.

a car would be fun, as there are many things to do in the area. the boise posters will fill you in on those. a fun trip, would be to go to the payette river and watch the kayakers...this time of year would be wild. birds of prey, idaho city, hotsprings,,,,lots to do enjoy

Hi Charley48,

Nope! Priceline didn%26#39;t like my 45.00 offer! :0(

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

There is a new Homewood Suites that opened last month in Boise. It%26#39;s on Spectrum about 5 minutes from the airport, just down the street from Hilton Garden Inn. Rate was $99.00 last time I stayed there. LCD TV in the room; free breakfast (with eggs, waffles, fruit, etc.); free light dinner (pizza, spaghetti, etc.). Very comfortable beds.

Thanks!

I%26#39;ll check on them too! Love the idea of a good breakfast right there at the hotel! :0)

don%26#39;t give up on priceline...try 50$ honestly, they let you try each 24 hours and i have%26#39;t been turned down...maybe $45 wasn%26#39;t good for that night...enjoy and try again

I tried Priceline again this morning at 50.00 - no go! I%26#39;ll try again during the weekend, maybe it%26#39;ll open up!?!

If you bring some sopapillas from Padilla%26#39;s on Girard, I%26#39;ll give you some homegrown potatoes. Fair trade? Even from Telofilos (Los Lunas) will work.

nmcruzin...tried priceline lately???sorry that it didn%26#39;t work the first few times...we use it exclusevly, for our boise outings

enjoy

Well, we are not getting anywhere with Priceline! :0(

So, as a back up plan we are thinking that maybe since we are renting a car, maybe to drive up to McCall/Meadow area (just looking at the map) and try some luck at some local spots up that way?!?! Friday we went on an overnighter to Truth or Consequences, NM to soak in the hot springs and it was a pretty fun adventure! We get in Boise around 5:00pm - would we still have daylight by the time we got up there? Do you recommend a place up that way?

Sopas that aren%26#39;t right from the kitchen - well, they just loose that hot bread flavor! sorry! :0)

Thanks again!

Hi charley48,

I%26#39;m wondering if the hotel you are recommending us to try through priceline - is that the Boise Airport locations? Or only Boise Area?

We have decided that we%26#39;d really like to stay in the Boise area after all and do Day Trips around the area. I tried priceline again and up%26#39;d our offer and it still didn%26#39;t take - so I%26#39;m wondering if I need to check Boise %26amp; Boise Airport area?

Thanks for your help!

Jean
