My husband and I are considering a trip to the area. Any suggestions for a place to stay that has a great view of the beautiful scenery and is near great restaurants and shopping? We will be there to relax. Thanks
Sun Valley area in AugustThe first suggestion would be the Sun Valley Lodge. It is quite elegant, has the famous ice rink, and great views.
I just read all the reviews on TA and find the only thing that is true, is the staff. They pay peanuts and treat,(as i know the foreign staff), not so well. BUT%26lt; look past that. The balcony rooms are wonderful, a llittle small, but the ambience of the old place and the history is grand. As for the food, the only thing i would do is have the sunday brunch. About the best i have ever had, and while in laws stay at xmas, we go to the dining room for the elegant dinners (they pay) and it is lovely.
The walk into town is spectacular, looking up at the mountain, and it is a short walk to all the shops (and we do have them) and restaurants. I also have a friend who rents out her ';guest house'; .www.croneycove.com/ she has the most beautiful grounds, VERY private, on warms springs creek, and the road is perfect shape. You drive past the warms springs lift 8 miles to the place, which sits on the creek. you have a private hot pool, or can sit by the river in a huge tub. Also , they just put in a sauna...oh, i love to go out there.
let me know about these accomadations, if you want other info on other places, let me know. and enjoy
Sun Valley area in AugustWhile you%26#39;re in the area, continue north from Sun Valley for another 60 miles. The farther you go, the prettier it gets, with the Sawtooth Mountains on your left and the White Cloud Wilderness area on your right. Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch has great views, but may not have any availability in August. (Great food but no shopping here, though...)
Charley: Good to know about croneycove.com. Thanks for the tip.
i adore croney cove . we do a xmas show, jewerly ect, out there in dec. and i just love the area. so relaxed and lovely. lisa has done a wonderful job, on all the property ect. the area was the bordello in the old days and she has redone the building. so cute, and the pool house too. love it and enjoy
There are a wide range of hotel and motel options, and Ketchum is a small town, so you can walk to everything. I agree with the others that the Sun Valley resort is tops - it%26#39;s just lovely. And in August you have the special treat of the largest free outdoor symphony in the United States! There%26#39;s also a local arts and craft fair in August that is first-rate. For another hotel option, consider the Knob Hill Inn.
jrrsunvalley,
it is now almost sept and the symphony and art fairs have come and gone, now we are in the middle of the largest fire in the history...warms springs, hulen meadows ect are evacuated...this is not good
