Which of these 2 Coeur d';Alene hotels?

Will be in CdA for a weekend in Sept. Never been there b4. Have narrowed hotel choices to La Quinta East on Sherman Ave or the Holiday Inn Express on West Seltice Way (not the one with waterpark, we are a sr couple). Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Which of these 2 Coeur d';Alene hotels?

Having not stayed at either one, I would rely on the reviews on this site for information on the quality of the hotels. In terms of location they both are very easy to get to from Interstate 90. Holiday Inn is located in a ';busier'; part of town (west side), La Quinta is in an older part of town (east side). Both are easy drives into downtown Coeur d%26#39; Alene, both would be a long walk to downtown. La Quinta provides a little better access to the lake via Coeur d%26#39; Alene Lake Drive and is also a short distance from Fernan Lake. Overall they offer very similar qualities in terms of location, it may just come down to price, room choice, and reviews from this site.

Thanks, nidahodave. Good advice. Have chosen Holiday Inn Express.

Hi. I am a Coeur d%26#39;Alene local. I have lived here for more than 20 years. The Holiday Inn is brand new, so I haven%26#39;t been inside it yet. It is close to the I-90 /Northwest Blvd freeway exit and the new movie theater. I don%26#39;t know what the price difference between the two hotels are, but really you can%26#39;t go wrong with either of them.

While you%26#39;re here make sure you take a walk around the Fort Sherman park by the beach and the floating boardwalk at the CDA resort.

Good local restaurants...

Tomato Street on Appleway has great Italian food and pasta, their smashed sandwiches are delicious and the atmosphere is fantastic. This is probably my favorite local restaurant (they have a location in Spokane too) Good wine list and big portion sizes.

White House Grill in nearby Post Falls (only about 3 miles west of the Holiday Inn on the corner of Seltice and Spokane Street) has amazing Greek/Turkish/Mediterranean food…go at lunch time, for dinner you need reservations and even with reservations you will wait forever, but there is usually no waiting at lunch. Ask about the specials and the ';Spring Bowl'; it is not on the menu but always available…their Shepard%26#39;s Salad is great too

If you are wine lovers stop by Barrel No.6 on Sherman Ave. downtown. This local wine bar serves wine grown regionally and made locally by Coeur d%26#39;Alene Cellars

For fantastic desserts go to the Dockside restaurant in the CDA Resort...their ';Gooey'; sundaes are the best (Dockside has good food too, but taking a walk around the boardwalk and getting a gooey is a favorite local pastime) There are two restaurants in the resort itself Beverly%26#39;s and Dockside…don%26#39;t go to Beverly%26#39;s, it is very overpriced and the food at Dockside is just as good

Hudson%26#39;s Hamburgers on Sherman is good for a simple lunch while shopping downtown…their burgers are famous and oh so good…but that is pretty much all they serve, burgers and pie

Michael D%26#39;s (near the La Quinta) serves a great breakfast, especially if you like a good omelet

If you are a coffee lover there are tons of great Cafes here…Java on Sherman is good, so is Bella Rose on Sherman
