Idaho to Bandon, Oregon

We will be driving from northern Idaho to Bandon, Oregon and have two nights to stop.

Could you suggest some places to spend the night. We have seen much of Oregon but have never been to Idaho.

We could make it more than two nights and if there are inexpensive flights from Spokane to Idaho destinations and then to Bandon, we could fly.

Idaho to Bandon, Oregon

Where will you be departing from in northern Idaho? If you are going to take a fairly direct route to Bandon you will spend very little time in Idaho and most of it in Washington and Oregon.

Idaho to Bandon, Oregon

We are spending a week in Blanchard, Idaho and then a week in Bandon, Oregon. We have a couple of days in between.

I%26#39;ve heard of Sun Valley, Ketchum, Boise, McCall and wondered if we could make any one of them part of our trip.

From Blanchard you could drive due south on US95 via Idaho to McCall, then onto Boise where you could drive due west into Oregon and on to Brandon. US95 is a scenic drive through the Palouse Region, along the Clearwater River, Camas Prairie, Salmon River, and along the Payette River if you use Idaho Highway 55 from McCall. McCall is a very nice town located in the mountains and on the shore of Payette Lake. Trying to go to Sun Valley or Ketchum would be quite a departure from any sensible 2 day driving route to Barndon. From Blanchard its about a 6.5 hour drive to McCall, from McCall its about a 2.5 hour drive to Boise depending on traffic. Flights from Spokane could get you to Boise via Southwest Airlines, Sun Valley and Ketchum would require a commuter flight into Hailey, generally not cheap.

I know there is bus service (Northwestern Trailways) from Spokane to Boise (and vice versa) that stops in McCall. The full route is pretty much an all-day trip. It%26#39;s probably easier on you to fly to Boise and take the shorter bus trip to McCall.

I presume you%26#39;d be flying from Boise to Coos Bay to get to Bandon... that%26#39;s certainly not direct, but I%26#39;m surprised at some available $85 (one-way) fares. The trick- I think you%26#39;re taking a taxi from Coos Bay to Bandon, no?

You may also want to consider stopping in Clarkston WA/Lewiston ID and checking out the entry to Hell%26#39;s Caynon. My wife and I did a fishing trip there last year and it was the highlight of our 2 week vacation. I know the best fishing guide in the world if you are interested. If you aren%26#39;t into fishing you can take a jet boat tour of the canyon (http://www.hellscanyontours.com/). From there we went to Hood River OR where you can kite board, sail or take a 20 minute drive north into Washington and whitewater raft the white salom river. It was a blast. From there you could trek down to Bandon Dunes and get in some great golfing. Fishing guide info is (I am not affiliated, just a satisfied customer):
