Condo in Spokane

I%26#39;ll be visiting Spokane soon to see if I%26#39;d like to live there and would most likely buy a condo. Any information about the condo market would be appreciated. I need to be within a walking distance of a bank, a grocery store and a bookstore. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Condo in Spokane

Lots of condos in the Spokane area to choose from. Prices run from approximately $70,000 for an older 1+1 in the downtown area, up to the high $200,000%26#39;s with an average of around $140,000. That will buy you a nice, newer 2 bedroom in a good area.

Can%26#39;t go into too much detail regarding walking distances, but if you like living in the city, there are plenty of them in the downtown area, but you might want to consider the Spokane Valley area too. Liberty Lake is a nice city close to the Idaho border and you can occasionally find a nice condo there. May be a mile from all three of your shops, though, but not sure what you%26#39;d consider walking distance.

Prices are pretty steady in Spokane, but they%26#39;re starting to rise a bit. Condos are becoming more popular, but you still should have quite a few to choose from.

Hope you like Spokane.

Second KirkandMimi%26#39;s infro, there has been a big surge in loft activity in downtown Spokane in the last few years. Your post with this question appeared in the state of Idaho and Idaho Falls forum areas, you may want to post the same question in the Spokane and or state of Washington forum and get additional responses.

I thank you for your prompt and helpful post regarding my query about Spokane condos. Even though I have lived in Los Angeles since 1973, I have never driven a car and don%26#39;t intend to start now! I live here in Westwood near UCLA which is one of the few places where it is possible to walk to everything. I will be looking around the downtown area to see if it is any more livable than downtown L.A. Otherwise it may have to be Spokane Valley which I imagine as a kind of clean, new exurbia. Over-speculation in the housing market is making Los Angeles a difficult place to live with rents soaring and people who have to have two jobs just to pay rent in a generally bad mood. Is there a kind of university/college neighborhood in Spokane? I have a business that I can conduct form home and would thrive in such an environemnt. Thank you again for your help.

In Spokane there are two universities – Gonzaga, located just east of downtown, and Whitworth located on the north side of the city. Both are relative small universities as compared to UCLA. There is also a satellite campus location for Washington State University located also on the east side of downtown. There are several nice neighborhoods located adjacent to downtown such as Brownes Addition, South Hill and Peaceful Valley. Liberty Lake is very much a modern neighborhood and car oriented. For better or worse we tend to be a car-oriented area up here, Spokane does have a bus transit system. If you want a “university” environment you also may want to think about Pullman, Washington (Washington State University) and Moscow, Idaho (University of Idaho), they are located 8 miles apart about 90 miles south of Spokane. Very much “university” towns but much smaller than Spokane. You still may want to post these questions on the Spokane and or state of Washington forum to get answers from current Spokane residents, I’m located in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho just east of Spokane.
