Macks Inn

We are planning an August trip to Yellowstone. Has anyone stayed at the riverfront units or cabins at Macks Inn. There will only be 2-4 adults, any recommendations would be appreciated. We%26#39;ve never been to this area before. How%26#39;s the weather in August? Thanks.

Hello Paw3. Never stayed in Mack%26#39;s Inn, but we%26#39;ve driven by it many times and it looks nice enough. It%26#39;s in a very quiet location, with the most common activities being fly-fishing or just floating down the river. Yellowstone National Park%26#39;s not too far away, and it%26#39;ll be an easy drive for your group. There%26#39;s several nice restaurants and shopping in West Yellowstone, MT.

Weather in August is generally hot and dry (you will immediately notice the lack of humidity in this area), with cooler evenings late in the month. This is nothing like a Mississippi summer - you%26#39;ll be very comfortable during the day, and you%26#39;ll get fantastic night%26#39;s sleep. An excellent time to visit.

There are better places to stay in Island Park. Try www.islandparkchamber.org or www.westyellowstonechamber.com for places that are cleaner and better maintained.

August is a great time to visit! If possible come the last half when the kids go back to school but still in season to catch the activities open. Horseback riding at Harriman State Park, river float from Big Springs, fly fishing and of course the trip to Yellowstone.

We stayed at Mack%26#39;s Inn last month. There are definitely better places to stay...Mack%26#39;s needs to refurbish, clean and replace worn out beds and furniture. We had mouse droppings and spider webs around the top of the shower. Filthy carpet, terrible lighting, road noise...I could go on. It was cheap, but we got what we paid for. Island Park is beautiful, but Mack%26#39;s needs to step up to a higher standard.
