Lava Hot Springs

I am traveling in this area in a few weeks and was wondering if this was a good place to visit. Are the hot springs worth the effort?

Lava Hot Springs

We stayed a week at the timeshare in Lava Hot Springs and enjoyed it very much. It is a small mountain town with one main street and a few restaurants, shops, museum and one supermarket. It is a beautiful area, but not a lot to do. If you want peace and quiet to chill out then go for it. We used it as a base for exploring.

We did not use the hot springs, but they did not seem to be very busy on the occasions we passed by. There is a trail up the hillside where you can overlook them.

There is also an olympic size open air swimming pool at Lava.

The above depiction by AngelG is pretty accurate - Lava%26#39;s a pretty small town. This time of year, it%26#39;s also fun to rent an inner tube and float the river through town. Cheap, family entertainment.

Just returned from two days in Lava Hot Springs as part of a roadtrip...definitely don%26#39;t miss it! As people mentioned it is a small mountain town with tons of charm. Don%26#39;t miss the hot springs pools at night or tubing down the river during the day. Also the ';Thai Food'; restaurant on Main Street rivals NYC thai cuisine.

Just wanted to say that I followed your advice and stopped at Lava Hot Springs on my way home from Yellowstone. It was a great way to top off a wonderful trip! We rented tubes and went down the river several times before soaking in the pools. Everyone in town was friendly and recommended the Thai resteraunt which was excellent.
