Horrible Visit

My sister and I, both grown, 9-5 jobs, independant home-owners, and students were treated with disgusting disrespect by the owner and the owners ';regulars'; our neighboring hotel guests. We were given an 11 o%26#39;clock ';bed time';, and when we were talking past that deadline we were threated with a call to the cops. When we did fall asleep we were continually disrupted by the ';regulars'; next to us at 130 AM knocking at our door to confront us about how rude and unthoughtful we were of other guests, and again at 7 am with a very angry pound on our paper-thin room-joining doors, just to again remind us of how rude WE were being for talking past 11 pm the previous night.

The following morning we went to ask the owner if we could move to a room where we wouldn%26#39;t clash with the other guests and we were literally yelled at by the owner, telling us that his regulars are important to him and we need to be curtious. There were no other rooms available for our already paid for the coming night. So we gathered what pillows we could to put between the doors to hopefully muffle some noise that evening. We knew we didn%26#39;t plan on going to bed at 11 on our vacation. Not that we really were going to plan a party in the un-decorated dull room, however we might make a noise after 11pm and didn%26#39;t want to have a visit from the police.

We ended up going out that night and actually ran into our ';regular'; neighbors and they came to confront us yet AGAIN. We had made an effort to get out of the room that night to not disturb them. They told us that they had talked to the owner and they all laughed that we went to ';rat'; on them. They continued to yell at us in the local bar, then stormed out.

We enjoyed the rest of our evening at the bar, and got back about 130 or 2 and were so worried about making any noise and after getting out of the shower we decided this was rediculous so we packed up our car and left right then. We paid for that night already and though it wasn%26#39;t much it wasn%26#39;t worth one penny spent. We waisted money for the second night, as well as any kind of pleasent stay the first night.

This was absolutly the biggest waste of my money. The rooms are cheap, and I guess you get what you pay for. Even if our stay was pleasent the room is not inviting at all. It is painted white cynder blocks for the walls no clock no radio, no pictures, nothing at all, and a joining door that is very very thin, might as well not even be there. I would have gladly spent another $10-$20 a night to have been able to enjoy at least one night of a pleasent nights rest on my vacation.

I just hope the ';regulars'; are worth it to the owner. Do not go here unless you know the owner if you want fair or even humane tratment.

Horrible Visit

I%26#39;m sorry I didn%26#39;t notice the name of the facility you had this horrible experience in. Would you mind telling us where you stayed so we can avoid it?

Horrible Visit

We stayed at the Home Hotel in Lava! Sorry I forgot to list that! lol!

It seems there is ';white trash'; in every state and unfortunately you must have run into some of them. For unbeatable politeness, vacation in the south next time.

Hope your future trips are much more pleasant.

I read and reread your post regarding your stay in Lava Hot Springs, where I have stayed frequently (though not at the hotel you were at). I%26#39;ve never had anything but the best experiences in that town. I wonder if perhaps the management couldn%26#39;t move you to another room because they were full? And I wonder if indeed the sound insulation between rooms leaves much to be desired, thereby requiring all guests to be considerate of all other guests sleep.

I Have stayed at alot of hotels in lava including the one you stayed at. I have never had a problem there and it is nothing like you say it is. I think you gave yourself a bad experance and was upset becouse they were full that is just the way things go. Personaly I realy believe if your experance was as bad as you say it was you would have left the first day. lava is a torist town and frankly you probly wanted money back that they would not give you. Alot of people try to rob torist towns. I would never go to bed at 11pm and I have never had a hotel say otherwise. If this was the case you could have left then. However you did not and that lead me to believe you time spent there was not as bad as you say and maybe you just couldnt get what you wanted. lava is a wonderful place for anyone and familys more than anything. I spend all my vacation time there with my kids and never have a complaint.

We had a similar experience with rudeness at Burgdorf Hotsprings with a terribly rude ';hostess';.

I don%26#39;t think people would believe it unless we had a movie camera. Too bad we didn%26#39;t-maybe she would have been nicer. She caught us totally by suprise-we were straight, sober and minding our own business. There were similar complaints, I thought they were blowing things out of proportion. Unfortunately not-she was on a rant in a public way (totally unacceptable).

Owners or employees having a bad day should avoid contact with the public, or get someone who can speak WITH people in a polite manner to do it for them. People remember and pass on poor experiences. We look forward to pleasureable experiences, but the poor ones are memorable because they take us by such utter surprise.
